Meet Spencer James
Spencer James is a seasoned broadcaster with nearly three decades of media experience. His journey began in television, where he worked as a First Assistant Director on short films, one of which earned a BAFTA nomination. His love for radio was ignited at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, where he rose from presenter to Programme Manager while earning his degree in Film & Television.
After graduation, Spencer spent three years abroad helping run a major radio station before returning to the UK to report traffic news as one of AA Roadwatch’s famous "flying eyes." He later became a presenter for a prominent radio group in the South East, hosting shows across the schedule, from drive time to breakfast.
In 2008, Spencer had the idea to create a chart show for expatriates, leading to the launch of The eXpat Chart. The show’s success exceeded expectations, and in 2013, it was rebranded as Airplay40, now broadcast on stations worldwide to a massive audience.
